Why I partnered with StatusCake?

Hey there, it’s Goran Duskic, owner of webmaster.ninja. I registered webmaster.ninja domain name back in August 2015. After finally deciding what I want to build on it, I started working on a service that combined DomainWatch (product of the day on Product Hunt), set of tools I already had on WhoAPI with monitoring services which I was going to build with WhoAPI’s APIs.
No small task, but I completed it. First in 2017 with a major upgrade and realease, followed by a 2019 major redesign and update. I never blamed pandemic, inflation or war in Ukraine, but we just couldn’t get enough revenue to support the infrastructure, team, and user support. I felt bad for the people who worked very hard to create a wonderful service, and I felt bad for 7300+ users that signed up hoping we have them covered.
In the end I decided to shut down the server that was loading the service, but stayed determined I was going to help users solve their website monitoring needs. Below you can find a list of advantages that will show you why StatusCake is the right choice.

Uptime monitoring
Get alerts when your website goes down 24/7/365. Test website uptime from 43 locations in 30 different countries. At StatusCake you can customise who gets alerted of website downtime and how (email, Slack, push notification, SMS, phone, Telegram, and many other).
You will have access to old uptime test results for up to a month. That way, you can stay on top of historical website outages. This allows you to compare your website uptime reports in real time so you can see if your website performance is improving or declining.
Page Speed Monitoring
I wrote extensively on the importance of page speed here and here, and I still believe that. It’s incredibly important to monitor page speed 24/7. Remember my line; “I love that your website is slow”, said nobody!
Now that you can no longer monitor your website speed with Webmaster.ninja, you can do it with StatusCake. Their Page Speed Monitoring tool allows you to test the load speed of as many individual pages as you like. You’ll get a full breakdown measured in milliseconds to help you identify any problem areas.
Domain Monitoring
Similar to what webmaster.ninja used to have, StatusCake has domain monitoring as well! Set up custom reminders to notify you when your domain is expiring. They’ll alert you if it does expire.
You can also set rules for DNS records, so that when they change you will receive a notification alert. This is a very simple and reliable service that is easy to setup but the benefits are powerful. Nobody wants to lose their domain name!
SSL Monitoring
What kind of a monitoring service doesn’t have SSL monitoring? Well a bad one, and as we know, there are plenty of those. On the other end, StatusCake does include SSL monitoring! Incredibly simple and easy to set up, just like domain monitoring. Just type in the domain name, and they take care of the rest.
Receive an alert 1, 14 or 30 days before it expires. Or set your own dates. You will also receive an SSL report and StatusCake will let you know if there’s something wrong with the way your SSL is installed.
Server Monitoring
Now it’s time to venture into unknown territory and talk about something that webmaster.ninja never had, and that’s server monitoring. What you can do is set thresholds for disk, RAM, CPU usage and more. If they pass a custom threshold, StatusCake will alert you however you like.
There’s a great advantage in tracking the way your server is behaving, because then you might be able to catch the downtime before it happens. Server monitoring is a part of StatusCake standard package, so make sure to utilize that as well.
What StatusCake Doesn’t Have
In case you were using Webmaster.ninja’s Google integrations (Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Google Search Console), you won’t be able to get that at StatusCake. I am still looking for a solution for that.
Very important for Webmaster.ninja users: I did not sell your contact details to StatusCake, so I can guarantee that they do not have your email address unless you already gave it to them. This also means that if you want to use their services, you have to sign up.
One Last Thing
